Guide · choosing an agency
Contract red flags before you sign with any agency
1 min read
the contract clause that follows you after you leave
walk away when you see these
a setup fee
legit agencies earn when you earn. a fee means they profit even if you don't.
12 to 24 month terms with auto-renewal
miss a 30 day cancellation window and you're locked in for another year.
the ranking promise
no one can promise you a rank. if they could, they wouldn't need to recruit you.
no names anywhere
if you can't find out who actually runs it, there's a reason for that.
the clause most creators miss: exit commission
search the pdf for 'post-termination' and 'residual'. some agencies keep 20 to 50% of your revenue for 6 to 12 months after you leave.
you keep working. they keep collecting. for a team that no longer answers your messages.
ctrl+f before you sign. it takes 30 seconds.
you're allowed to ask for this
the standard deal
- setup fee before any work
- 12 months minimum, auto-renews
- commission after you leave
- a 'team' with no names
what fair looks like
- revenue share only, zero fees
- no minimum term, leave anytime
- you leave, payments stop
- real names on the first call
a good agency doesn't need a lock-in. 90% of our creators stay without one.
